U23 Việt Nam began their preparations for the 2016 AFCU23 Qualification tournament with a 3-1 win at Hà Nội T&T. The youngsters, mainly made up of graduates of the ArsenalJMG aacdemy took the lead through Mạnh Hùng who smashed home a freekick from 25yards. T&T’s somewhat veteran defender, Văn Biển, headed home an equaliser for the 2013 VLeague champions.
In an entertaining encounter it was Toshiya Miura’s team who sealed the victory. Thanh Bình headed in off the post after some great build up before Công Phượng broke away late on and comfortably dispatched beyond Van Cuong in the T&T goal.
